Olivia Jackson joins Bachmann Group

As the new yachting season gets firmly underway the Bachmann Yachts team have been joined by 28 year old Olivia Jackson, who will bring her skills to the company working as a Yacht Crew / Management Recruitment Specialist.

Olivia came ashore recently after working for several years on a number of yachts ranging from 20 to 50 metres, most recently on the 48m, MY Rola where she served as Chief Stewardess.

Built by ISA Yachts in Italy in 2006, Rola underwent an extensive interior refit over a period of 7 months, which was completed in the spring of 2015 ready for a busy charter season.

Olivia says that joining the yacht during this intensive period of activity was a valuable exercise, which enabled her to hone her interpersonal skills, getting to know every aspect of the yacht, its operational features, and how to interact productively with a large crew.

She became responsible for organising and liaising with the designers and contractors during the refit, which involved the interior being completely stripped and rebuilt with a totally new design.

The ensuing summer season onboard Rola was also a great learning curve; “For instance,” Olivia said, “we hosted a wedding reception and dinner, and I worked closely with the clients and broker to ensure the bride and groom’s wishes were met regarding flowers, decoration, drinks, hiring of equipment and overall organisation of the day and evening. The event included a reception party for 60 guests, and a sit down dinner for 32 people.”

Other yachts that Olivia has worked onboard since May 2011, include the 20m MY Panna Cotta, where she completed two seasons as sole stewardess/deckhand on board; the 50m MY Force India, where she was part of a team of three stewardesses; and the 27m MY Moon Glider. This was another assignment that involved her in a substantial refit project, and the full-on responsibilities that come with looking after the demands of charter guests during the summer season.

So, what does this blend of practical sea going and project experience give to Olivia that will help her in her new job?

According to Nick Saul, Bachmann’s CEO, Bachmann Yachts is now managing a portfolio of over 60 yachts, with plans to double that number in the coming period. This is creating an increased demand for crew management, recruitment of competent crew, ensuring fully compliant certification, delivering specialised training and arranging transportation etc…

Nick confirmed,“ It is in these rapidly growing crew welfare and recruitment areas of the business where Olivia’s knowledge, experience and friendly attitude will be immediately evident to our clients and contacts.

Olivia commented, “I realised immediately I joined Bachmann that the company offers a very diverse range of services developed over many decades, and that these actually constitute a total package covering every aspect of yacht ownership and operations. My aim is to reach out to the luxury yachting industry with that message, bringing my own personal in depth aspect to it, so that our owners, clients and crew continue to feel that they are being well looked after.”

Why not contact Bachmann Group’s Yachting Division to gain the benefit of the company’s 40 year background in maritime services, and handling yacht registrations, purchases, sales and yacht ownership structuring, both for EU and Non-EU owners.

The Group’s total service concept extends to Crew Employment and Payroll (Bachmann is licensed and audited under the MLC), Crew Training, Recruitment and Placement, thus supporting vessel owners and their representatives through every aspect of yachting life.
